Hard Bumps on Skin

Hard Bumps on Skin

Hard bumps on skin may occur due to a common skin related condition known as keratosis pilaris. It is not a serious health related condition. These bumps are hard, coarse and are caused due to the accumulation of keratin in the hair follicles. Here are some tips on how to prevent and treat hard bumps on skin.

Hard Bumps on Skin

Keep your skin well moisturize. Try to go for thick and lactic acid based moisturizing lotion. Also, drink more water to keep your skin hydrated. Use of humidifier is also a good idea.

While bathing
  • Use warm water.
  • Avoid harsh soaps.
  • Limit your bath time.

Use over-the-counter alpha hydroxyl and lactic acid based creams to treat hard bumps on skin. These types of creams help moisturize your skin and also remove dead skin cells. You can also use topical corticosteroids such as hydrocortisone to get rid of keratin buildup.

Don’t worry because these types of bumps are harmless and may disappear with age. Consult with a dermatologist before using any over-the-counter product.
