There are several benefits of using cinnamon powder and oil
in skin care. It has anti septic, anti-fungal, anti-viral, astringent,
anti-inflammatory properties and these properties make it an ideal ingredient
of various skin care products. It has drying effects on the skin hence it is
ideal for people with oily acne prone skin. But, if you have dry skin or the skin
that is too sensitive then avoid it on your skin. Cinnamon may be harsh for
your skin, so first dilute it with other ingredients to minimize its harsh
effects. Here are some tips on how to use cinnamon for skin care.
Fine lines and Wrinkles
You can use this spice to make your fine lines less
noticeable. For this, mix 3 drops of cinnamon essential oil and a couple
tablespoons of petroleum jelly or you can also use olive oil. Apply this mix on
the problem areas. Avoid its application near eyes and other sensitive areas of
the skin. You can also use this remedy to get rid of wrinkles on lips.
This spice is also good for scalp care. It helps promote
hair growth. To use it on scalp, mix one teaspoon of ground cinnamon with 1/4
cup of warmed olive oil. Add one tablespoon of honey to the mixture and massage
this mix on your scalp. Leave on for about 20 minutes and then rinse it off
with a mild herbal shampoo and water.
Eczema and Cinnamon
A mixture made by combining equal amount of cinnamon powder
and honey is said to beneficial in the home treatment of eczema. Avoid this
remedy on children, sensitive skin and irritated skin.
Acne Remedy
As mentioned earlier, cinnamon has drying effects on the
skin so you can use it to get rid of acne naturally. For this, make a paste by
combining one tablespoon of cinnamon powder with three tablespoons of honey.
Apply it on your skin and wait for about 20 minutes before rinsing it off with
warm water.
